Andrew Charon has long history of being a man of many talents. He won a Rubik's cube contest up in Fargo at the age of 11. Andrew had only been tinkering with a Rubik’s cube for 5 months prior to the event. Years later, when I was studying painting and drawing at Moorhead State, Andrew was among the most revered of the upper classman in the art department, known for his original and provocative art. He was also an active musician. My first exposure to his music was hearing his band “Sausage Finger” on a local band compilation. It was unlike the other songs on the cassette. Andrew clearly wasn’t going to mimic the crowd. He had something unique to express. Andrew performed in other projects and bands, a band called “Bootlick” being the one I recall the most.
I was so excited when Andrew reached out to join the Basement Sketches crew, knowing we’d all be in for a treat. Not one to disappoint, Andrew continues to surprise and delight every project with unexpected approaches and twists. I can’t wait to hear what he does next.
