Barrett Haroldson

Barrett Haroldson is an enigmatic and all around awesome dude. To the world at large, he’s a hip and accomplished designer, but the Barrett that I know is also one of the most down to earth, goofy guys around. Barrett has his own very distinctive and discerning sense of style. He’s known for his keen eye for composition and mad design chops, and he’s always listening to some kind of great music, be it a perfect old gem that he’s unearthed or some amazing new band I’ve never heard of. It’s not surprising that something like basement sketches would be right up Barrett’s alley.

We played music together in the early 2000s, and Barrett played this big Yamaha SK20 keyboard at all of our gigs. I liked the sound but also felt badly for the man having to haul around such a precarious and large keyboard. Clearly there was something deeper going on. I believe that Barrett had developed keyboard love. Now years later, we are reaping the benefits of that union through Barrett’s basement sketches songs.
