Christopher Danforth

It’s hard for me to write about Chris Danforth and not make it all about my relationship with him as both a friend and collaborator, as he is one of my dearest friends and has also been one of my closest musical partners over the years. I’ve had the privilege of working with Chris on many awesome creative endeavors: bands, songs, recordings, performances, and projects, which have been among the most cherished experiences of my life. Making music with Chris is always joyful. I recall, in our earliest college bands, being shocked by how developing songs with Chris was so effortless. His musical knowledge, openness, and unbridled creativity allowed any idea to flourish and become something 100 times better.

Probably the most inspiring aspect of Chris as an artist is his truly unconstrained approach to creating. Convention isn’t really in Chris’ vocabulary. He’s not wired to operate by the laws of earth or humankind.  It’s hard to even list or categorize all of the things Chris has done and continues to do creatively: musician, song-writer, performer, composer, artist, producer. In his world, there is no line between any of these things. Why would anyone ever suggest otherwise?

Danforth brings out this spirit of boundless possibility in his basement sketches contributions and helps all of us consider the world in new ways with every song.
